EDUCATION
Marco studied Urban Planning and Development in Utrecht and subsequently completed a Doctorate in Economic Geography at Utrecht University. In 2001 he graduated at the University of Amsterdam as MRE, Master of Real Estate. Marco is a Member of the Limburg Real Estate Society and Member Alumni Association MSRE Amsterdam.
ABOUT
Marco started his career as a Real Estate Developer at the third largest Dutch consulting and engineering company in his field in Europe. He then worked as Real Estate Developer in the Management Board of a regional real estate developer as initiator and realizer of a large number of real estate developments and projects.
Marco has walked the Camino trail 2 times. This historic pilgrimage walk is 799 kilometers long and it takes the average hiker about a month. Along the route is a number of major cities such as Pamplona, Logrono, Burgos and Leon and ends in Santiago de Compostela. Walking the Camino de Santiago is an experience you won't forget all your life and once you take your first step, nothing will ever be the same again. During this walk Marco decided to change course and start his own Real Estate company which he named after the famous pilgrim's walk: Camino Real Estate.
His company Supports real estate owners and users companies and (semi)- government in their spacial and financial real estate challenges. Camino real estate also focuses on our living and working environment with a focus on filling vacant real estate. This makes Camino real estate since its establishment a permanent partner for all real estate owners such as (social) organizations, municipalities and companies seeking a solution for their housing issues. In addition to acting as an advisor, Camino also plays a supporting role as an investor. In 2015, Camino received the Pieter van Vollenhoven prize from the National Restoration Fund for the risk-bearing redevelopment of the former train station St. Gerlach in Valkenburg. Marco speaks Dutch, English, German, French and Swedish.
